AMA 11 citation guide
AMA uses reference numbers, commonly shown as superscripts in the text, with a numbered reference list.
Number sources in citation order
Use the order in which sources first appear in your paper. Rearranging the saved list changes numbers; update the paper to match. Copying the formatted in-text citation keeps superscripts when supported by your editor.
Medical journal names
Medical styles commonly use abbreviated journal titles. Enter the accepted abbreviation when your assignment or journal requires it; this generator does not query a journal abbreviation database.
Verify publication details
Check author order, year, volume, issue, page range or article number, and DOI against the publication. Download Word or RTF to preserve italics and superscripts. Follow your publication’s instructions for reference spacing.
