Build an annotated bibliography
An annotation explains what a source contributes, beyond its bibliographic details.
Write your own annotation
Summarize the argument or findings, assess the source’s credibility and explain its relevance to your project. Avoid copying an abstract as though it were your own evaluation.
Add notes in the generator
Open Annotation / notes in the source form. Saved annotations appear beneath entries. The Include annotations option controls whether they appear in the list and formatted downloads.
Save and download
Download Word or RTF for an editable bibliography. Download a backup to move source details between devices. Follow your instructor’s word count, paragraph structure and formatting rules.
