APA 7 citation guide
APA uses author–date citations in the text and a reference list at the end of the paper.
Enter the source details
Use the author names in the order printed on the source. For a journal article, enter the journal, volume, issue, page range and DOI when available. For a webpage, enter the page title and website name.
Titles and dates
Use sentence case for article, webpage and book titles: capitalize the first word, the first word after a colon and proper nouns. The generator preserves the capitalization you enter. Leave the publication date empty when it is not available; the style normally uses n.d.
Quotations and reference lists
Enter the quoted page in Passage location. A whole article’s page range belongs in Source page range. APA reference lists normally use double spacing and a half-inch hanging indent. Cite the source, rather than a search-results page.
Book example
Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice, T. Egerton, 1813. Quoted page: 15.
References entry
Austen, J. (1813). Pride and prejudice. T. Egerton.
In-text citation

Preview and formatted downloads preserve the citation’s italics. Page numbers should match the edition you actually used.
